The first session that I attended this morning was called Curiosity, Courage, and Cake. It was about being real and honest with yourself and learning to have genuine and authentic conversations that will make a difference, not just asking "What's your major?" The speaker addressed the topic and struggles that women in sororities face and how sorority women are supposed to be perfect and have their life together. She really emphazised that it is okay to not be okay, and that by sharing with others the real you can help you and help others get help. It was amazing to me at the end of the session how many women shared with the room what they were struggling with in their lives with a room full of strangers. The speaker was so relatable and inspiring the way she addressed mental illness. It was such a great presentation.
I also attended a session about fincance which included information that would help you personally as well as ideas to bring back to chapters to improve savings and funds for your chapter. Being a math mjor this session interested me, and there were a lot of useful websites and ideas that I can discuss with our bursar to improve the chapter. You can always save money, regardless how much, but you have to start saving now.
Dinner with the group was fun and the PJ party and heads up was a fun way to end the day with the other delegates.
Can't wait for tomorrow for more interesting sessions to learn more for myself and my chapter.
