The first night at NGLA has been super fun and informative so far! I admittedly didn't know what to expect for the first night and I was honestly blown away by speaker Michelle Guobadia. She was so easy to engage with and so easy to listen to which made taking in her message all that much easier. I think the biggest things that I took away from her presentation were her ways that I, a sorority woman and member of the Greek community, could be a "dream maker" for my chapter and community. Although she gave us many ways to accomplish this including accountability, taking advantage of leadership opportunities, and taking ritual seriously. All of these things make sense to helping our chapter and Greek community grow and succeed but are often left in the dust. It was nice to have her tell it to us straight that these things- all of which we should be doing anyway- are super important and shouldn't be neglected anymore.
Admittedly, after the conference portion of our night was finished a few of us ended up going on a road trip with MB to try and find a CVS. Not only did it take us 15 mins to get to a place that was supposed to be 6 mins away, but we didn't even get to CVS. Somehow we ended up at a Walgreens (which was ironically across the street from a CVS). Thankfully we made it back safely to the hotel and we had a new adventure under our belts.
Today was a ton of fun so I can't wait to see how tomorrow is!
