Casual, Business Casual

Day 2 - 11:28 pm

After eating a nice and relatively cheap breakfast provided by the hotel at about 8 am, we regrouped for 9 am and moved on to our keynote speaker Joshua Fredenburg.

With an inspiring and motivating presentation about how to be an effective leader in the 21st century, Joshua kicked this day off to a great start and really got our blood flowing. Feeling ready to take on the day, I moved on to my next meeting which was titled Motivating the Middle.

T.J. Sullivan delivered this thought-provoking speech about how to fight apathy and how to get all members of your organization on the same page. I learned that it is important to meet members in the middle and to make realistic expectations as opposed to unrealistic ones.

Next, we ate lunch. Honestly, nothing special here, but it was in fact free and I am a strong believer that beggars cannot be choosers.

After lunch, I attended three more motivational speeches which were all pretty great. I found the presentation on recruitment delivered by David Stollman to be specifically useful as our chapter is in a position where recruitment is definitely a top priority.

Once we finished the learning part of the day we went out to dinner at Bears' (not Bears' BBQ). The dress code was to be casual, which I took as business casual because you don't have to get ready if you stay ready; but I digress. The salmon was okay, but the highlight was definitely the buffalo chicken dip.

As we arrived back at the hotel there was a good amount of fun had thanks to light dancing, pajamas, Heads Up, and blog posts.

Signing off,

Tristen
